Liquid Ice Melt From Cope

Liquid Ice Melt

Liquid ice melt can play an integral part in a facility’s winter safety program.  When used correctly it is a cost-effective and powerful tool acting as an anti-icer as well as a de-icer.  Municipalities and highway authorities have used it for decades as seen in the tell-tale white lines that are on roads before a storm hits.  Liquid deicer is now gaining popularity in the private sector.  Snow and ice management professionals and facility managers with multiple surfaces to keep safe (parking lots, walkways, driveways, etc.) are turning to liquid ice melt.

Cope Salt’s liquid ice melt is a brine solution produced onsite at our Lancaster, PA plant.  It can be delivered in the amount of 5,000 gallons.  We also sell 275-gallon totes and 5-gallon jugs which are available for pick up at our Lancaster, PA location.  The product can be dispersed from something as large as a truck-mounted tank or as small as a hand-held sprayer.

Liquid Ice Melt as Anti-Icer

Timing is very important.  Pre-treating surfaces before the storm hits.  Anti-icing involves placing a layer of brine on the surface of the pavement before a winter storm has begun to prevent snow and ice from freezing to surfaces.  It works by lowering the freezing point of snow and ice.  This proactive approach prevents snow and ice from bonding with treated surfaces making ice easier to chip off and remove.

Liquid Ice Melt as De-Icer

Everyone wants to avoid accidents, slips, trips, and falls.  Liquid ice melt is able to penetrate snow and ice that is already on the ground.liquid ice melt

Liquid Ice Melt Advantages

Solid ice melt materials, such as rock salt, have been the accepted norm.  However, this new method is growing in popularity.  Here are a few reasons why:

  • Easy to apply.
  • Sticks to surfaces better than solid products that may bounce and scatter.
  • As a de-icer, it begins working almost immediately, minimizing the wait time to see results.
  • Can be used for pre-wetting to make solid ice melt products more effective.
  • AUTOBrine® customers can install a tap on their systems for easy access to brine to be used as liquid ice melt.
